Founded in 2021 under the patronage of Her Highness Che’ Puan Mahkota Khaleeda Johor, the club has rapidly emerged as Southeast Asia’s most high-profile netball franchise and a flagship of the region’s fastest-growing professional women’s league.

NSL 2021 : A Defining Start for Johor Jewels

The 2021 Netball Super League (NSL), held from 19 March to 10 April 2021, marked a pivotal moment for the team formerly known as Johor Royal, now proudly recognized as Johor Jewels. Guided by Head Coach Fazira Mesnan, alongside Manager Juanita Primrose and Physiotherapist Hani, the team embraced a fully local lineup, competing without any imported players throughout the tournament. This decision highlighted their commitment to developing and showcasinghomegrown talent.

Under the leadership of captain Azilah and vice-captain Pow Mei Foong, Johor Royal demonstrated exceptional teamwork, resilience, and determination, earning their place in the grand final with a series of impressive performances. In the final, they faced a strong KL Wildcats side and concluded the match with a 58-47 result, securing a commendable runners-up finish and the silver medal.Despite the outcome, individual excellence shone through. Pow Mei Foong was awarded Most Valuable Player (MVP), while Fariha Razak earned the Best Attacker title. Both reflecting the team’s depth of talent and competitive strength.NSL 2021 stands as a defining chapter in the club’s history, laying a solid foundation for Johor Jewels’ continued growth and emergence as one of Malaysia’s leading netball teams.

SOOKA NSL 2022 : A Historic Championship Victory

The Sooka Netball Super League (NSL) 2022, held from 3 to 26 June, marked a historic and dominant chapter for Johor Jewels.Led by captain Pow Mei Foong and guided by Head Coach Fazira Mesnan, alongside Manager Juanita Primrose and Physiotherapist Hani, the team delivered an outstanding campaign, remaining unbeaten throughout the competition.In a bold and progressive move, Johor Jewels became the first team in the league to introduce imported players, welcoming Gayani and Sirima Samnaree from Thailand. Their inclusion strengthened the squad and set a new benchmark for excellence in the NSL.

The team’s dominance carried through to the final, where Johor Jewels secured a commanding 50-40 victory to be crowned champions. The occasion was further elevated by the presence of Her Highness Che Puan Khaleeda, adding prestige to an already memorable triumph. Individual excellence was also recognised,with Fariha Razak earning the Best Attacker award,while Gayani Samanthika was named Best Defender, highlighting the team’s strength and balance across the court. NSL 2022 stands as a landmark achievement in Johor Jewels’ history, an unbeaten season, a championship title, and a defining moment that solidified their status as a powerhouse in Malaysian netball.

NSL 2023 : Back-to-Back Champions

The Netball Super League (NSL) 2023, held from 13 October to 5 November, saw Johor Jewels continue their dominance. Led by captain Azilah Aziz and vice-captain Fariha Razak, and guided by Head Coach Tracey Robinson, Assistant Coach Fazira Mesnan, Manager Juanita Primrose and Physiotherapist Nor Ain, the team delivered another unbeaten season. Johor Jewels strengthened their squad with imported players Adri and Gayani, showcasing aperfect blend of local and international talent.

Their consistency and teamwork carried them through to the final, where they clinched a 48-43 victory, securing the championship title once again.NSL 2023 cemented Johor Jewels’ reputation as a powerhouse in Malaysian netball, marking a historic back-to-back championship run.

NSL 2025: A Season of Resilience

The Netball Super League (NSL) 2025, held from 1 to 23 February, saw Johor Jewels conclude their campaign with a bronze medal finish. Led by captain Syafazliyana and vice-captain Fariha Razak, and guided by Head Coach Tracey Robinson alongside Assistant Coach Fazira Mesnan, Manager Juanita Primrose, and Physiotherapist Nor Ain, the team delivered a series of strong and competitive performances throughout the league. With the continued presence of imported players Adri and Gayani, Johor Jewels maintained a well-balanced squad, finishing third in the first round standings.

Their journey progressed to the semi-finals, where they faced a tough challenge against KL Wildcats and were narrowly edged out, bringing their campaign to a close. Despite the result, individual excellence stood out, with Syafazliyana earning the Best Defender award, an acknowledgment of both personal performance and the team’s defensive strength. NSL 2025 represents a chapter of resilience and determination for Johor Jewels, reflecting their ability to remain competitive at the highest level while continuing to build and evolve their legacy in Malaysian netball.
